ChannelNumber

An identifier for a meter channel. This value identifies the channel stream of data from the ERT. For most situations, this value is 1 and can be hard coded.

Gas and water devices have only one channel. Populate the elements and attributes for these devices according to the samples in this guide.

For electric meters, there are usually multiple channels. You are not required to put in all channels of data for each electric meter. Just put one channel into the file. Use ChannelNumber = 1 and Unit = <one of the units on the meter>.

Itron recommends that you do not set multiple channels for electric devices. If you must set multiple channels, use multiple SetChannel elements that specify the same SetDevice information for each channel.

Collection Manager

Required. These channels are not needed, Collection Manager creates the channels for electric meters. You need the set channel to get to the set device which is where the ESN is.

Performance Manager

Required

Itron Analytics

Required. At least one channel must be configured for auto-channel creation. Set the ChannelNumber value to 1 when creating a dummy channel. For more information, seeAuto-channel creation.

ChoiceConnect Fixed Network

Required. The 200W water ERT has two channels (0,1). You must identify which channel the data is coming from for each side of the 200W(A/B), side A is channel 0 and side B is channel 1. For electric meters that have more than one endpoint within the meter body, each endpoint has its own unique endpoint ID therefore each endpoint provides data on channel 1. If you are using the 100W+ with a Leak Sensor and want to send MDI Configuration information for the leak sensor, the leak sensor data is on channel 2. In this example you would have an endopint ID = 12345678 with channel 1 and the same endpoint ID = 12345678 with channel 2 for the leak sensor.
